    "I LOVE TO READ" MONTH

February is "I Love to Read" month and to promote reading enjoyment we have an incentive for our students! On Friday, January 31, we kicked off our monthly reading incentive by reading quietly during Shine Time. When students returned to class, they were able to color in a 10 minute clock on their "I Love to Read at School" recording sheet.
Students received the "I Love to Read @ Home" recording sheet to keep track of their reading at home. For every 10 minutes a student reads, they can color in a 10 minute clock. Once they complete a row of clocks (for K-2 that is 50 minutes of reading and Gr. 4-6, 100 minutes of reading) students can clip off that section and return it to school. They will put their slip in the grade level container by the front office. Students can turn in as many sections of the home recording sheet at time during the month of February. If your student needs an extra sheet, they are available in the school office.
Each Friday in February, we will draw a name from each grade level. That student will receive a gift certificate (up to $10.00) for a free book from our Scholastic Book Fair, which will be held from February 24-28 and at the Art & Academic Fair!|
Thank you to our PTO for sponsoring the Book Fair and our "I Love to Read" incentive program!

    JANUARY "SHINE TIME" !

The January "Shine Time Morning Meeting" assembly was held on Friday, January 31. Each month we gather in the gym to celebrate all students who have earned STAR tickets by being safe, respectful and responsible. The meeting starts with a greeting, a sharing time and then an activity.
Following these activities, we draw 10 STAR tickets from each grade level and those students who STAR tickets are drawn have the opportunity to choose an extra incentive to participate in during the next month.
We also choose the classrooms that have earned the "Golden Trophy" in specific areas. Those classrooms have gone above and beyond with their behaviors in: PE, Music, Media, Chinese, Recess, Lunch and in keeping their classroom picked up at the end of the day.

Our January Golden Trophy winners are:
Golden recorder for Music:  Mrs. Lutz's class
Golden tennis shoes for PE: Mr. Mancini's class
Golden globe for Chinese:  Ms. Pearl's class
Golden vacuum for Custodial:  Mrs. Duncan's class
Golden book for Media:  Sixth grade, Mr. Hansen & Mrs. Stegmeir
Golden lunch tray for lunch:  Mrs. Lichtscheidl's class
