• Attendance Hotline (absence for the day)

The legal mandate from the State of Minnesota states: Children between the ages of 7 and 17 are required to receive instruction at a school as defined by the statute. (Minnesota Statute 120A.22.)

At seven or more unexcused absences a student meets the legal definition of a “habitual” truant. For students attending high school, this is further defined as, “a student who is absent from attendance at school without lawful excuse for one or more class periods on seven school days and who has not lawfully withdrawn from school.”

  • Student Absences:

If you are absent for a full day, please have your parent/guardian leave a message on our Attendance Hotline (651-982-8414) prior to, or on the day of the absence.
If you are absent for a partial day or need to leave early or arrive late, please call your Student Services representative.

    The message needs to include:

    • Name of parent/guardian
    • Name and grade of student
    • Date of absence
    • Reason for the absence.

If you will be leaving school early or coming to school late, please bring a note from your parent/guardian excusing you for this absence.  You will need to bring this note to the Student Services office.

Absences without a valid excuse from a parent/guardian will be considered unexcused/truant. For more information about which absences are excused, please see the detailed absence information under the "For Parents" section of this website, which may be found here.

  • Receiving a message from a parent/guardian:

Due to the high number of students and the volume of messages typically received in our office:
    • Parents are only asked to request message delivery if it is an emergency.
    • If you need a message sent to your student, please contact your assistant Aimee Martens (A - L) at (651) 982-8417 or Lisa Kundel (M - Z) at (651) 982-8415 or Michelle Ihfe (Student Services Assistant) at (651) 982-8416 in the Student Services office.
