What is Assistive Technology
An AT Device is defined by the US Department of Education as any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of an individual with a disability.
AT Service includes the processes used in selecting, locating, and using assistive devices and strategies.
AT Devices and Services promote greater independence for learners with disabilities by providing enhancements to or changed methods of interacting with tasks that these learners were formerly unable to accomplish, or had great difficulty accomplishing.
