Thank you for visiting our school website.  I am honored to be the principal of this incredible school.  We are fortunate to have an extremely supportive community, dedicated staff, caring families, and magnificent students.  Together, we work to create an optimal learning environment where all students are valued.  We believe in teaching our students the necessary skill to be successful in all aspects of life.

Scandia Elementary School is proud to be an International Baccalaureate (IB) school.  Through inquiry, our students are encouraged to be balanced, caring, communicators, inquirers, knowledgeable, open-minded, principled, reflective, risk-takers, and thinkers.  Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program reinforces these principles by focusing on three essential agreements.  Scandia Stars agree to be respectful, responsible, and safe in all school settings.  Our goal is for our students to apply these skills both in our school and outside of the school setting.

We are focused on whole-child growth.  This means that we know the value of meeting our student’s social-emotional needs directly coincides with meeting their student’s academic needs.  At Scandia Elementary School, our students begin learning Mandarin Chinese in kindergarten.  Scandia Elementary is home to our student-operated school store.  This is an entrepreneurial opportunity where students fourth through six grade students may apply to be a member of this team.  Jobs include inventory, marketing, management, and sales-related positions.  Sixth-grade students may also become involved in our Scandia Elementary News Network (SENN).  Students involved in all aspects of news broadcasting from videography to being a news anchor.

One of the many benefits of being a small school is we are fortunate to truly get to know all of our students as we have opportunities for students beginning at age 3 through grade 6.  At Scandia Elementary School and within Forest Lake Area Schools, our students get the benefit of getting a strong foundation in our elementary building.  As our students move to middle school and high school, they receive the benefit of having extenuating opportunities due to the size of our district.  When your child attends Forest Lake Area Schools they have ample opportunities in academics, sports, clubs, and fine arts.  As our students move to our middle school they have the opportunity to make choices that fit their interests and passions from an abundance of opportunities.

We are grateful for all of our partnerships as we continuously work together to support our students as they “reach for the stars”.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions at 651-982-3300.
