    Minnesota Reading Corps
For the 2020-2021 school year, Scandia Elementary has received a grant from the Minnesota Reading Corps, an AmeriCorps program. This grant allows for two full time literacy tutors for students in grades K-3 who need additional support in improving their literacy skills. The literacy tutors will serve as one-on-one tutors and provide research-based interventions to students who are just below proficiency in reading. The Reading Corps member tutors each student daily for 20 minutes to build phonics, phonemic awareness, and fluency skills.

    Extended Day
Extended Day is an after school intervention program for students in grades 1-6. Students can receive support in the areas of literacy and math. This program is provided through Forest Lake Area Schools Targeted Services. This free program runs from November - April, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 3:45-5:00.
Research has shown that early intervention with students in the development of the reading, math, and social emotional skills is critical to future academic success. To meet these learning needs Extended Day instruction will be provided by high quality educators who use researched and evidence based strategies. Student program will be monitored and the teaching staff will share progress with you.
If you have any questions about Extended Day, or would like to enroll your student, please contact Julie Hull, Principal, at 651-982-3301.
