A Message from Superintendent Steve Massey

Steve Massey

On behalf of the school board and all district staff, I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to the Forest Lake Area Schools community for the strong support you have given our school district over the years.

The 2015 Bond Referendum provided $143 million to the district for building upgrades, repairs, and additions. At the end of these projects, each school will have improved air quality systems, improved school safety features, improved learning spaces, and additional space to accommodate a redesigned middle school and the shifting of all 9th graders to the high school. The taxpayers’ investment is appreciated and we take great pride in completing the work as promised and within defined budgets.

More recently, the successful 2018 Operating Levy Referendum provides an additional $825 per pupil for a total of $1,286 per pupil. These funds will enable the district to address critical operating needs including the reduction of class size averages, recruitment and retention of high quality teachers and staff, enhancement of services and programs for students, and the improvement of the district’s financial stability.

Our promise to you, the community and taxpayer, is to continue to provide budget transparency. Thank you for your continued support. We are proud of the services and programs we provide for students as we prepare every student for success and prosperity.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steve Massey
Superintendent of Forest Lake Area Schools
