School Board Election
A school board election will take place along with the statewide general election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Three board positions are open for election, and these positions are the seats currently held by Jill Christenson, Curt Rebelein, Jr. and a vacant seat. Members who are elected will serve four-year terms starting in January of 2027 through January of 2031.
Filing for school board election:
An individual who is eligible and desires to become a candidate for an office to be voted on at the election must file an affidavit of candidacy with the school district clerk at the school district office, 6100 210th St N., Forest Lake, MN 55025. The telephone number 651-982-8104. School board election filings will be accepted beginning on July 14, 2026 and will be due no later than July 28, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
A candidate for a school district elective office may withdraw from the election by filing an affidavit of withdrawal with the school district clerk no later than July 30, 2026 by 5:00 p.m. After that date, no candidate may file an affidavit of withdrawal. Filing fees are not refundable.
School board candidates should review the campaign manual from the Minnesota Secretary of State and must file all required Campaign Financial Reports.

Qualifications for a school board member
- Eligible voter
- At least 21 years of age when assuming office
- Resident of district for thirty days preceding the General Election
- Has not filed for another office in the same election
- Is not registered as a convicted sex offender. (M.S. 204B.06 subd1: M.S. 205A.06, subd1b.)
School District Referendum Elections
No referendum elections have been set forth by the school board of Forest Lake Area Schools for the upcoming November 2026 election.
Voter information for election day, and early (absentee) voting
Prior to Election Day
Voters who have not registered to vote in their current precinct may do so online or through the mail. Registration forms and information are available at www.mnvotes.org. Prior to Election Day, early (absentee) voting is also available. Voters can request, receive and cast an absentee ballot in one visit to the county election office (county-specific information can be found below).
On Election Day
On Election Day, every voter will have a designated polling place. Voters who have not registered prior to election day may register in-person, with proof of residency, at their polling place. Polling locations are not permanent and locations may change from one election to another, so voters are encouraged to check their polling location for early voting and Election Day voting here:
