        Mark your calendars and line up those babysitters so you can attend this year's PTO Dala Gala event at Vannelli's in Forest Lake on Friday, February 1 from 7-10 pm! The Dala Gala committee has been working very hard to plan a fun evening. Your $25.00 per person ticket brings you a full evening of appetizers, games, a silent auction, a live auction, the Teacher Feature and lots of socializing.  Tickets are $25.00 per person and can be purchased online using this link: PTO Dala Gala Tickets
           A formal invitation will be coming home with your child on February 11. We hope to see you there!

         Scandia Elementary's Kindergarten Round-up will see some changes this year!  Mark your calendar for Tuesday, February 5 from 5:30-6:30. We invite you and your child to come for some fun activities and to see what Scandia is all about! 
            Information will be mailed out to families the week of January 6. Please contact us if you do not receive any information by January 15. Registration forms can be downloaded using this link: Kindergarten enrollment forms

          School yearbook flyers were recently sent home in Friday folders. Orders can be placed online at www.balfour.com. Just type in our school name to begin the process. Yearbooks can also be mailed by filling out the order form and sending a check payable to Balfour for $12.00 back to school with your child. Deadline for ordering is April 5, 2019. Please call the office if you have any questions or need an order form.


    winter image  WINTER WEATHER IS HERE!

            The cold weather season arrived early this year!  We would like to take this opportunity to remind families that students do go out for recess in weather temperatures to -10 either actual or windchill. The students will be outside between 20-30 minutes, so please have your child bring their winter weather clothing including snow boots, snow pants, hats and mittens. 
           In addition, please be sure that we have your current phone numbers at school as all Connect Ed voice messages about school closings/late start will be sent to those numbers. 


    shine time items    DECEMBER SHINE TIME AT SCANDIA!
          On December 20, Scandia Elementary celebrated December's "Shine Time Morning Meeting," our all school assembly dedicated to honoring those students and classrooms who have demonstrated safe, respectful and responsible behaviors during the month. All students who earned a December STAR ticket were eligible to win some cool prizes. 
          Classrooms also earned special "Golden" awards for their exceptional work in following the essential agreements during the month of December. The classroom winners for December are:
          Mrs. Adami's class: Golden recorder for Music
          Ms. George's class: Golden book for Media
          Mrs. Klausen's  class: Golden lunch tray for lunchroom
          Mrs. Pooch's class: Golden football for recess
          Mrs. Pooch's class: Golden globe for Chinese
          Ms. Pearl's class: Golden tennis shoes for PE
          Mrs. Adami's class: Golden vaccuum for cleanest classroom
    Congratulations to these classrooms! Shine on, Scandia Stars!

            Please continue to save those Box Tops. Our goal this year is $1,00.00! So far, we have earned $340.00! The next submission will be January, so keep clipping and thanks for your support.

    The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment. These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. 
    All Scandia students will be equipped academically and socially for further learning.

     Scandia Elementary IB World School!
     Scandia Elementary was authorized as an International Baccalaureate World School in January 2015. To learn more about the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program please click on the link below.


    This year, Scandia's Open House will be held on Thursday, September 13, from 5:00-6:30 pm. Come and see our newly renovated building!
    Each month a different grade level is invited to come and have breakfast together from 8:30-9:05 in our cafeteria. Invitations are sent home prior to the event.
    Scandia Elementary's Wild Walk is on Friday, October 12, 2018. Families and neighbors sponsor students to participate in physical fitness games during the day. This is our PTO's primary fundraiser for the school year.
    Fall Conferences are October 15, 16, & 17, 2018. Spring Conferences will be held on March 19, 21 & 22, 2019.
    Sponsored by the Scandia PTO, the Dala Gala social event is for adults to support Scandia Elementary IB World School and to celebrate our success as an International Baccalaureate World School. This year's Dala Gala is on Friday, February 1, 2019.
    The Art & Academic Fair is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their inquiry into science, art, history, technology and creative writing. It is held on Friday, February 22, 2019, from 5:30-7:30 pm.
    The Scandia PTO sponsors a school carnival filled with games, raffles, food and fun! The carnival will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 5:30-7:30 pm.
    Student academic excellence and sixth grade graduation are part of this yearly event. The program will be held on June 6, 2019 at 10:00 am.
    "Scandia's Got Talent" our annual school talent show will be on June 6, 2019.



     Scandia Elementary News Network (SENN) is a weekly news show designed and operated by our sixth graders. Throughout the school year all sixth graders who want to will have the opportunity to work at SENN at various positions, such as news anchors, camera, and director. This year we are using "green screen" technology and are able to save each broadcast. Thank you to our technology integration specialist, Billee-Jo Martin, for helping our students learn about this new technology.
