Mathematics DepartmentThree credits of Math are required for students in grades 9-12. They must complete the sequence of Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Students interested in math are encouraged to continue by taking additional courses, from Calculus to Computer Science to Statistics.
- Students must have a minimum of 3 credits in Math with completion of Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II.
- For those students interested in Astronomy, Business Administration, Chemistry, Dentistry, Engineering, Geology, Mathematics, Medicine, Nursing, and Physics, the recommended mathematics sequence is: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus.
- Most college programs recommend mathematics through Algebra II B,. Many colleges, including the University of Minnesota, require four high school math credits, which could include Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Trigonometry, or Advanced Functions, Statistics & Geometry, or AP Statistics.
