OCTOBER "SHINE TIME" !
The October "Shine Time Morning Meeting" assembly was held on Friday, November 1. Each month we gather in the gym to celebrate all students who have earned STAR tickets by being safe, respectful and responsible. The meeting starts with a greeting, a sharing time and then an activity.
Following these activities, we draw 10 STAR tickets from each grade level and those students who STAR tickets are drawn have the opportunity to choose an extra incentive to participate in during the next month.
We also choose the classrooms that have earned the "Golden Trophy" in specific areas. Those classrooms have gone above and beyond with their behaviors in: PE, Music, Media, Chinese, Recess, Lunch and in keeping their classroom picked up at the end of the day.
Our October Golden Trophy winners are:
Golden recorder for Music: Ms. Pearl's class
Golden tennis shoes for PE: Mrs. Adami's class
Golden globe for Chinese: Mrs. Lutz's class
Golden vacuum for Custodial: Mrs. Gerschke's class
Golden book for Media: Mrs. Lutz's class
Golden lunch tray for lunch: Kindergarten - Mrs. Hjelmgren & Mrs. Hoganson's class
Golden football for recess: Fourth Grade - Ms. George & Ms. Myre's class
Congratulations to these classrooms!
GRADE LEVEL HAPPENINGS...
October has been a busy month at Scandia Elementary!
*First Graders...created butterfly stories for the new "Storyboards" that have been placed at Liliskogen Park just down the road from Scandia. They walked down to the park for the ribbon cutting ceremony and to walk the Story Walk to see their work. At the end, they released their butterflies that they raised in their classrooms.
*Third Graders...started their IB unit of inquiry on understanding complex systems. Using the Curioscope Virtuali-tee shirts students are able to learn about the various systems that make our bodies health using 3D technology!
*Sixth Graders...are studying the history and geography of Minnesota. Students were given the task to plan a 4-5 day trip, including specific historical and current places, and then shared their itineraries with classmates and families.
