Update regarding masks and Ranger Academy

Posted by Forest Lake Area Schools on 7/29/2021 4:00:00 PM

Greetings families,

I hope you are all enjoying a fun and relaxing summer. As we look ahead to the start of school, we wanted to share some back-to-school plans for this fall and COVID-19. We are planning to be fully open for students learning in-person, starting school as scheduled on September 7th and 8th.

Current state guidelines recommend but do not require that masks be worn in schools. Our district plans to follow the same guidance for the start of the school year and recommend but not require that masks be worn in our buildings for students and staff. Masks will still be required on school buses as long as the federal requirement for masks on public transportation remains in effect.

We will continue to monitor COVID-19 activity within our schools and community, along with any updates to state and federal guidance. To help continue our community’s success against COVID-19 and keep our students learning at school, we are strongly recommending vaccination for all eligible students, staff and family members aged 12 and up.

Ranger Academy Distance Learning Option

We are happy to announce that we will once again offer our elementary Ranger Academy option this year for families who prefer distance learning. If you wish to enroll your Pre-K-6 student in Ranger Academy, please complete this registration form by August 5th. This deadline is to help us ensure that we have the correct number of teachers for both in-person and Ranger Academy classes. Families who choose Ranger Academy should plan to commit to that option for at least the first semester of the 2021-2022 school year.

At this time, we are not planning to offer a full distance learning option for secondary students in grades 7-12. If you have concerns about COVID-19 safety for your secondary student, please contact your school principal.

As we look ahead to the start of the school year, additional back-to-school information, including full details of our COVID mitigation will be coming out to families from both the district and your student’s school. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the first day of school.

Have a great summer! We’re looking forward to seeing students back in September!
